Aalii is also one of Howard Hughes Corporation's newest planned high-rise project that will be 42 stories and consist of studios, one and two bedroom units ranging from 349 to 900 sf. The relatively small size of the units and the lack of penthouses imply that this project will be more affordable than its neighbors in Howard Hughes' 60 acre Ward Village, the largest LEED-ND Platinum Certified neighborhood in the United States, which was recently named The "Best Planned Community in the US" by Architectural Digest. On one side Aalii will be next door to the new flagship Whole Foods at the base of Ae’o, as well as adjacent to the Ward Theaters, and on the other side it will be pretty much next door to the planned 4 acre park and then the planned Kakaako rail station. There will be 15,000 sf of its own retail space at the base of the project. Aalii was designed by San Francisco’s Solomon Cordwell Buenz and had a local partner Ferraro Choi and Associates Ltd., who also designed Ae'o.

Amenities will include barbecue areas, a pool, fitness centers, private rooms and lounges. I am excited about the inclusion of a 42 floor Sky Terrace where all residents can enjoy the best views the building has to offer.
